Before you start
Should I make a will or a Lasting Power of Attorney first?
A Lasting Power of Attorney protects you while you are alive, if you ever cannot make decisions for yourself. A will covers what happens after you die. Many people do both, and doing the LPAs first is sensible because they can only be made while you have the mental capacity to make them.
Is an online will legally valid in England and Wales?
A will is valid if it is in writing, you are 18 or over and have mental capacity, and you sign it in front of two witnesses who also sign in your presence. Where you wrote it makes no difference. WillBot gives you a signing guide so the formalities are followed.
Does WillBot give legal advice?
The do-it-yourself options make completing documents easier but do not include legal advice or a check of your documents. If you want advice and a check, choose the Jackson Giles Legal Services option. If your situation is complicated, we say so and put you in touch with a person.
